The Curtains I Could Never Replace

When I moved from Myoko to Nagano, I wanted to create a home that felt warm and welcoming without spending a lot of money.

Around the same time, my brother was about to throw away several old dress shirts that he no longer wore.

Instead of seeing them as waste, I saw a possibility.

I decided to turn them into curtains.

I had never made curtains before, so everything was new to me. I designed them, made the pattern, cut each piece of fabric, and sewed them together myself.

It took me around 16 hours to finish them.

Of course, I could have gone to a store and bought curtains in just a few minutes.

It would have been much easier.

But I don't think I would have loved them the same way.

Today, these handmade curtains hang in my kitchen and bathroom.

Every time they get dirty, I wash them carefully because I know exactly how much time and care went into making them.

To me, this is the true beauty of handmade pieces.

It isn't just about having something that is one of a kind.

It's about knowing the story behind it.

It's about remembering every decision, every stitch, and every hour that brought it to life.

That is why these curtains are so special to me.

And that is also why every piece I create for ENHANCE is made with the same care.

I hope that, one day, the people who use my work will create their own stories with it, just as I have with these curtains.
